Apply for a Mini Grant

These small grants are available to CRPOI members to support grant planning and development and to ensure the meaningful and dignified inclusion of Experts with lived experience of incarceration and students. Applications to receive mini grants will be reviewed by the CRPOI leadership team.

CRPOI has funding to support 9 mini grants over the next 3 years. Each grant is for $1000.

1. CRPOI is focused on addressing persistent data gaps related to the impacts and outcomes of systems of incarceration in Canada. Please describe the specific data gap you are interested in and list any benefits your emergent research can have for criminalized populations. *

2. CRPOI Mini Grants are intended to support initial collaboration to support the development of research grant applications. Please outline the specific funder and granting stream you intend to apply to. *

3. CRPOI is dedicated to supporting mentorship, meaningful inclusion and leadership among students and impacted criminalized populations. Please detail how you intend to operationalize these foundational values, both within the research planning and development phase (with the mini grant), and during – if successful – the larger research study. *

4. CRPOI holds space for an Expert Advisory of people with lived experience of criminalization, incarceration, and action-oriented research. To be eligible for a mini grant you must work with at least one Advisor across the research process. Please describe how you envision working within this structure, to centre the inclusion of impacted populations.(required) *
